Korea, October 21 - 28, 2007
From Champaigne, Illinois, I flew to Detroit and then to Tokyo. After a short layover, I flew on to Seoul, Korea arriving late on Monday 22nd where I was picked up by a former graduate student. I was hosted by the Korean Rural Economics Institute.
I stayed in a traditional guest house with rice paper walls and no windows, sliding doors and no furniture. I gave two lectures, and had numerous meetings with researchers. They took me on a one day tour of a valley which specialized in red
peppers. On Saturday, Dr. Choi took me on a tour of tourism and agri-tourism businesses near Seoul, including two Buddhist monasteries, and two agri-tourism villages. On Sunday I returned to Champaigne, spent the night, and then drove home on Monday.
