Urbana, Illinois, November 21 - 26, 2006

From Raleigh I went to Urbana to spend Thanksgivings. I arrived late on Tuesday. On Wednesday, I got to see Elise's preschool and to meet her teachers. Thursday was the Thanksgivings feast. We spent some time each day moving furniture and working in the yard as well as going for walks.

Raleigh, North Carolina, November 20 - 21

My next travel was Monday and Tuesday in Raleigh, North Carolina, where I met with a team of researchers working on an assessment of the Appalachian Regional Commission's entrepreneurial programs. We had a nice dinner Monday evening where we met several economic development leaders from North Carolina. I flew home Tuesday evening and went straight from the airport to Urbana.

Toronto, Canada, November 14 - 17

On Wednesday I flew to Toronto to attend the North Amerian meetings of the Regional Science Association International. These are always exceptional meetings and I try to attend each year. This year I not only had a paper to present, but I also planned a meeting of side meeting North American regional scientists interested in joining the International Comparatie Rural Policy Studies Consortium. On Saturday evening I flew home.

Indianapolis, Indiana, Nov. 12 - 14

On Sunday November 12, I flew to Indianapolis to attend the two-day Indiana Rural Summit that RUPRI helped organize. The meetings were good, but my primary purpose was to meet with colleagues from central American and elsewhere who were attending the meetings. On Wednesday, I flew to Toronto.

St. Louis, Missouri, November 1 - 2

On Wednesday evening I drove to St. Louis to attend a meeting of a small group of regional economics working on the issue of regional competitiveness. We met that evening and until mid afternoon on Thursday. I returned that evening.
