Manassas, Virginia, March 23 -26, 2004

I drove from DC to the meeting place near Manassas after my meetings were over on the 23rd. The meetings were an international gathering on rural policy sponored by the Rural Policy Research Institute and the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. I got out after meetings were over and visited the Manassas civil war battle field. Amazing place. I found a few geocaches.

I had meetings coming up in Northern Virginia so I flew in a couple of days early and met with people at USDA about my research.

Bloomington, Illinois, March 6, 2004

This was not a trip in the same sense that the others are. It was a pleasant late winter day in Illinois so I drove out to Bloomington, Illinois to the local historical society library. I researched my ancestor, Barton Johnson, until I found the approximate location of his grave site, just west of the city. I drove out and search for his head stone, but the stone that old (mid 19th century) were usually too weathered to read. I did take the photo of the cemetary sign.
